How Much Will a Trucking Company Pay if Your Cargo is Lost or Damaged?

Trucking companies’ liability is governed by the CMR Convention (Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road). Compensation is limited and calculated based on the weight of the cargo—not its actual value.

This means that even for relatively moderate-value shipments, the compensation received from the carrier covers only a small portion of the total loss.
